RELIGIOUS ART | NEWS OF WEEK

ALPHA OMEGA ARTS NEWS
By TAHLIB
On a day long after the flooding was over, Noah drank wine from a vineyard that he'd planted on the dry land. He drank too much, and in Genesis 9:20-27, we read that Noah"...was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent." His son Ham "saw the nakedness" and told his brothers, and for this Ham was cursed. This is one of the most hotly debated parts of Noah's journey, but artist James Jean cleverly uses "Genesis" imagery to depict a religiously conflicted moment. Note the agitated waters bursting forth; a freshly plucked olive leaf resting on Noah's drunken head; and red wine leaking from his naked pours. We follow Artists who remind us of our worst moments so that we can grow, and that's why "Noah" (above) by James Jean is my NEWS OF WEEK.
